Counselling to live well

You already have all the resources, skills and abilities within you to gain your full potential.

We bring these to our attention and build upon them.

Counselling to Live Well

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave.
CBT cannot remove your problems, but it can help you deal with them in a more positive way. It is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle.  CBT aims to help you crack this cycle by breaking down overwhelming problems into smaller parts and showing you how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.  CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis. (See NHS Choices)

Solution Focused Approach

By exploring future goals and accessing your preferred future, we seek solutions together.
This is a Solution Orientated Counselling Approach.

The Solution Focus Approach is brief and does not assume long term therapy.  It assumes that time is limited and it is more useful to focus energy upon finding ways forward rather than dwelling on what hasn't worked.

  • Instead of analysing why our life is how it is, we redirect the energy together to create the life you want it to be.

  • Instead of problem solving, we focus on a way forward!

  • We identify want is working now, even if it is one small thing, and build on these positive exceptions.
